p.s. the worlds largest artichoke is located in castroville california, the so called "artichoke centre of the world". the artichoke was built in 1963 and is made of steel measuring 20 ft high. the 'choke is part of castroville's annual artichoke festival which in 1947 named norma jean baker (aka marilyn monroe) its innaugural artichoke queen.
