Ten Day Countdown

There are only ten days until the Calgary International Film Festival!  I spent my afternoon narrowing down the list of movies that I want to go see.
  1. Gigantic - My number one pick. This is a movie I've been looking forward to for a while.  Zooey Deschanel and Paul Dano... I am sold.
  2. Breaking Upwards
  3. My Suicide
  4. White on Rice - I watched this trailer when it was release on Apple, it looks hilarious.
  5. The Exploding Girl
I didn't go through all the films that are playing, I made note of the ones that immediately caught my eye... and then narrowed that list down. Tell me what you plan to see!!

Rediscovered Love

What an excellent time of year!  While sitting in the living room of my parents' house, procrastination has set in (first paper of the semester, due tomorrow) and I am reminded of my love for TV and Perez/gossip sites.  I forgot how much I love season premiers!  The first five minutes of Grey's Anatomy (aka my fave show/one of my fave shows)? Intense! I suggest you go youtube it.

I can't wait to cable (and internet)...

Love, Keiko.

Four Words

Gossip Girl season premier.

Love, Keiko.

p.s. I hope everyone is as excited as I am.  The finale? Ace.  This should be good.

They didn't really belong there. But there they were.

I've been feeling pretty uninspired lately when it comes to blogging (but I have been on top of all my school work and readings!), and I still don't have a reliable internet connection in my house.  So, because of this I am going to keep it simple.  I am going to review Adam.

Rating: A

Adam is just a beautiful, endearing, heartwarming (and heartbreaking… really heartbreaking) story about falling in love, growing up and moving on.  I don't know much about Asperger's (other than what I know from reading the book Don't Look Me In the Eye) so I can't comment on how the syndrome is portrayed, but the character Adam is simply adorable (and I may have fallen a bit in love with Hugh Dancy... but I also fell in love with Rose Byrne).  From the moment these two met I had so much hope for the two of them, yet at the same time I was so nervous for the relationship and how it would turn out.  What ends up happening (I won’t spoil it) is unexpected and slightly disappointing, just because it isn’t what I was wanting for the two of them... but I think it was a good ending, it made sense. Oh, and I hated Rose’s dad, Peter Gallagher is so good at playing character’s that are easy to hate/get under your skin, ugh (but Sandy from the O.C was the sweetest)… I wasn’t too into the whole side story about Rose’s family situation – but it’s completely understandable, and is a good parallel to Adam.  I think everyone should see this movie, please.

Love, Keiko.

p.s. I planned to post a youtube clip of a scene that I love - but there are just too many.

re-dream me.

I'm going along with Kaur and saying that this isn't my best top ten... I kind of just threw it together/didn't pay attention to what I listened to this week (all are stellar songs though!!!)(I was busy playing Tap Tap... and won't count those songs toward this).

1.  Present of Future End - The Most Serene Republic
2.  Lost Coastline - Okkervil River
3.  One Day You'll Be There - Plus/Minus
4.  Feel the Love - Cut Copy
5.  No Reason To Cry Your Eyes Out(On The Highway Tonight) - Hawksley Workman
6.  Red Cave - Yeasayer
7.  Do I Belong? - The Hidden Cameras
8.  Waiting... - The City and Colour
9.  Wake Up Exhausted - T&S
10.  Cemetery (New Buffalo Mix) - Architecture In Helsinki

Okay, now that I've gone through and listened to these songs again... I'm liking this ten.

to tie a tie.

i was asking my father about tying ties the other day.
and realized that its not that simple.
there are many ways to tie one.
a four-in-hand, half-windsor, full-windsor, etc.
i decided to look it up and stumbled (via wikipedia) upon this:
the 85 ways to tie a tie by thomas fink & yong mao.
thats a little excessive no?
i mean in the end it looks pretty similar to me.
why do they make this seemingly simple task so complicated and confusing?

kaur.
ps. i like the plain ole windsor knot.

dust & trees & tiny little goblins.

i love entourage.
since its inception i knew it was a winner.
last week i chose to watch season 1-6 straight.
(i do this often with my favourite shows)
i love ari, e, and turtle the most.
e is so cute i want to put him (and his baby blues) in my pocket.

i just want to post this video because its a great ari monologue.

the days get shorter and the nights get cold

I am actually pretty stoked on the end of summer. Now that we are over a week into September, my apprehension about the end of August is completely gone - and I love fall.  I love school, and today is the first day of classes.

The highlights of my summer.

- My first Folkfest!
- Family roadtrip.
- New friends.
- Moving out/being independent.
- So many good movies.
- My 21st birthday/fun fun times.
- Discovering my new fave restaurant, The Coup.
- So many beautiful purchases (example: Marc Jacobs bag)
- GTs with the BFF who was in town for (just about) the whole summer.

I know there are tons more but my list can't be endless, so I'll leave it at that.

Summer, you will be missed... but I'm excited for the new season.

to do something apart from the group.

ive always thought this little youtube video was cute.

there are multiple reasons why.

though not all of them have any direct connection.

a) i love this cover...i think its adorable and perfect.

b) this song reminds me of fall which i like (not as much as summer).

c) its a clip from a movie called bande à part which i want to see.

d) anna karina stars in this movie and she is adorable.

e) her name reminds me of anna karenina which i want to read.

f) i just love the overall aesthetic of the scene.

g) the 'madison dance' is a line dance which i have grown to appreciate.

h) this dance inspired uma thurman & john travolta's dance in pulp fiction which i love.

kaur.

10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.

here it is.

Sometime at the start of summer/in the spring Kaur posted trailers of movies that she (we) think will be awesome.  One of those trailers was for a movie called Adam - looks adorable! Anyway, I saw the trailer for it again when it played before (500) Days of Summer and have been super stoked on it ever since.  Good news!  It is currently playing at the Globe (thanks to a sweet friend for letting me know), so my sister and I are going to see it tomorrow.  It will be good.

at the end of the day.

three days into september!  the past three days have been fantastic... moving and beginning to settle into my new amazing/adorable/perfect house.  so, because of the moving i don't have anything exciting to blog about... other than how much i love my house.

oh, and i just got a new 16G ipod touch - love!  the first year that the touch came out i got one for christmas and fell in love with it... five months later, after doing laundry, i pulled my clothes out of the dryer and found my touch in three pieces... when i showed it to my dad he responded by saying "didn't you see the warning?" - above my parent's washer is a sign that reads CAUTION CHECK ALL POCKETS FOR IPODS. yup, missed that one.  this time nothing bad will happen to my ipod.
