come on and get the minimum.
i don't really have any music lists lately, but i have been listening to some really great albums including forgiveness rock record (broken social scene), weapons grade romantic (dojo workhorse), smoking gun (lady of the sunshine), and broken bells (broken bells). on that note this single by broken bells is amazing:

take me to higher ground.
higher ground is one of my favourite coffee establishments in calgary.
i haven't met anyone that hasn't liked it, to be fair.
its a great independently owned cafe that serves organic drinks.
just a sweet spot with a great atmosphere.
however, what truly sets higher ground apart for me is one drink:
the dublin mist.
a mix of an english breakfast tea and irish creme, its the bees knees.
i don't know of anywhere else that serves this, but they should.
it is amazing.

Ohbijou.
On Wednesday I went to see Ohbijou play at Marquee. I'd listened to them a little before, but wasn't all that impressed. For me, they are the kind of band that you have to see live to fully fall in love with them, and now I love them. So beautiful.
Love, Keiko.

You've heard it before.
Kaur's been listening to The xx for a while, and has included them on a few of her weekly ten lists. I finally got around to picking up their album a couple days ago - AMAZING. The song Heart Skipped A Beat has quickly become one of my faves (I have a feeling it will become an all-time fave). I've been listening to it on repeat all day, . I love love love the lyrics/love love love beautiful songs that make my heart ache. So, if you haven't heard it you're missin' out!
Sometimes, I still need you.
Love, Keiko.

i've been listening to tons of florence + the machine and phoenix lately.
so here's a good dose of their beauty.
florence + the machine - rabbit heart (i love her music and her videos)
phoenix - rome (i like the devendra banhart neighbors remix best...but this video is sweet)

Sainthood.
Everyone knows that Tegan & Sara are basically my fave band and have been forever (my first favourite band after my elementary school days and saying that Destiny's Child and Ja Rule were my faves... aka between grade 7-8), I'm getting pretty stoked on their new album next month... I just checked out their Canadian tour dates (which I am also excited about) and they are playing at the Jubilee. I know that last time they were in town that's where they played, but that was the year I was living in Vancouver - I got to see them at the Commadore Ballroom (which was pretty tight)... I am not looking forward to seeing them at the Jubilee. I just think seeing them at a bigger venue would take away from the feel of all their past shows I've seen (and I remember hearing shitty feedback from friends who saw them @ the Jubilee last time). Lame. But really, I am still excited... just not as excited as I wish I could be.
Love, Keiko.
