today's word is:
transience
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/transient

kaur.
ps. "The forest, which came almost to the edge of the beach, climbed away into the distance up the flanks of the low, misty hills. Underfoot, the sand was coarse and mixed with myriads of broken shells. Here and there the retreating tide had left long streamers of weed trailed across the beach. The rain, which seldom ceased, had for the moment passed inland, but ever and again large, angry drops would beat tiny craters in the sand."
- From Arthur C. Clarke's short story Transience

i dropped it

i gotta say i dropped it this week and don't have a top ten for the first time in ages. i do however have one song that ive been enjoying thoroughly!

when kaur and i play scrabble, we get really excited when we are able to make words of 30+ points.  little did i know that this word: OXYPHENBUTAZONE can be played (obviously not all at once), across 3 triple word squares, for a score of 1780 points.

but y'know, crunkswagga is a pretty good one too.

sushi pillows!

i really like sushi, so i think these are awesome.
even though i am not a big fan of these particular kinds of sushi, sushi+pillows=so good.

today's word is:
chagrin.

kaur.
p.s. "at this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. some are running scared. some are coming home. some tell lies to make it through the day. others are just now facing the truth. some are evil men, at war with good. and some are good, struggling with evil. six billion people in the world. six billion souls. and sometimes...all you need is one."

crushin'

i felt like making a list, so i decided to compile my celebrity crushes/obsessions, this is in no particular order.

1.  michael cera.
2.  kristen stewart.
3.  ellen page.
4.  rob pattinson.
5.  sara quin.
6.  naomi from skins.
7.  zooey deschanel
8.  seth cohen (not adam brody in general), seasons 1-3.
9.  james franco.
10.  M.I.A.

i think these 10 are pretty obvious ones.
(i had to stop myself at 10, this list could have gotten out of control)

my number one right now would have to be kristen though.  she was so cool in Panic Room, when I was 14 and it came out I wanted to be her.  and now i want to be her again.

a little more sippy sippy...

i love kanye west. hands down he is tight. he has talent. he steps outside of the box. he has an ego bigger than yours. he does what he wants. he says whats on his mind. he says what means and means what he says. and hands down he is completely unapologetic for who he is and i love it.

however this is just hilarious...cause truth be told j.u.s.t.i.c.e. and simian made one sweet video. remember this?

here's kanye's video...

and well this is the winning video...and i think its sick. eat it up kanye eat it up. (p.s. it starts about 17 seconds in)

kaur.

im not a hermit im a troglodyte.

today's word is:

lexiconology

today's word is:
sojourn.

kaur.
p.s. was christopher mccandless reckless and foolhardy? or was he a human anomaly willing to step out of the confines of socially acceptable norms - was he opening up his heart to the world around him? or closing it off? was he walking into the wild? or walking away from humanity? which would we rather believe?

lexiconology

i like words. all words. new words. old words. short words. long words. simple words. weird words. made up words.
why use the same words when you can use new ones?
with such a plethora of words to use on a daily basis why do we stick to the same ones everday?
lets work on that shall we...go open up a dictionary
but maybe its my skepticism thats kicking in but i doubt that will happen
so in that case we have lexiconology

todays word is:
lackadaisical.

kaur.
p.s. apparently the most trusted dictionary to date is the 1928 twelve volume oxford english dictionary. one of the main contributors was william chester minor, an american ex army surgeon originally born in ceylon (sri lanka). prior to his involvement with the oed minor enjoyed frequenting fleshpots, was sent to an insane asylum, and convicted of murder. he was later diagnosed with schizophrenia...

love this.

My favourite thing of the week= portia on ellen!

Seriously, they are too cute.

love keiko.

this is the second first post

who is keiko?

i will similarily answer through the usage of a list, however as aforementioned i use letters and brackets...which are pretty sweet

a) keiko uses numbers/periods for lists but i don't hate it
b) if something is not spelled correctly keiko will stop reading it
c) her birthday is on the 164th day of the year (165th on a leap year)
d) keiko and i have played scrabble in a mall...it was great, she's way better than me at it
e) she works at starbucks and thinks im dumb for forgetting if a grande is bigger than a tall or not
f) she's so cool i wanna be just like her when im older...
g) she thinks i fall a lot, but so does she...sometimes when she's standing all alone in the middle of a field
h) i miss the days we'd go on out of town tournaments and she would go off on her own to write in her journal, stuffed giraffe by her side
i) she has brown ray ban wayfarers and a black case. i have black ray ban wayfarers and a brown case
j) she once had a car named molly
k) she is the brains behind this blog

kaur.

this is the first post.

Who is Kaur? (written by Keiko).

I am going to answer this by listing facts about her, my list will be numbered with periods (my favourite form/the best form of making lists):
  1. Kaur makes her lists lettered, with brackets.  I hate it.
  2. She is one year and fifteen days younger than me, this birthdate is shared with: my dad, John Cusack, and King Henry VIII.
  3. She has great taste in pretty much everything (movies, music, people, television, books...).
  4. She is a pretty decent scrabble play, but has only ever beat me once.  Playing scrabble together is one of my favourite past-times.
  5. The song Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl (Broken Social Scene) makes her sad.
  6. She is drama free.
  7. Sometimes she doesn't use her signal light when she drives.
  8. She plays soccer (this is how we met 5 years ago, in U16).
  9. She can be clumsy, and falls a lot.

note:  I just asked Kaur to tell me about herself, this is what she had to say:  "I like ellipses.  I like alphabetization.  I like things that rhyme.  Hey Twilight is out!!!"

Basically, she is the best person I know, we have a good time, and are each other's favourite person.

This is officially the first post on our little blog, keiko & kaur, and boy oh boy i am so excited.  The purpose for it will be outlined below:
a)  to highlight things we like and love
b)  to highlight things we don't like.
c)  to broaden your musical horizons.
d)  to practice freedom of thought.
e)  to diss perez hilton like it's our j-o-b (we are obsessed with perezhilton.com but hate it at the same time).

(As you can see, this section was written by Kaur, if I had written this it would go 1., 2., 3., etc.)
