this is the 1994 pulitzer prize winning photo taken during the sudanese famine by kevin carter a member of the 'bang-bang club' - a group of 4 south african photojournalists active during the apartheid. it depicts a little girl crawling to a united nations food camp while a vulture has landed waiting for the carrion. kevin carter, the first journalist to photograph the public executioning by necklacing (putting a tire around the arms and chest of a human and setting it on fire) commited suicide soon after taking this photograph.kaur.
